Vegan Horseradish Sauce

Dairy free vegan horseradish sauce is creamy, tangy, versatile, and ready in just a couple of minutes.

Most of the time you will see horseradish sauce paired with some type of beef, but there are so many other ways you can use it. When you see it in the stores in the jar, you probably have never even thought about where it came from.

Horseradish is actually a root vegetable that’s a little spicy and belongs to the mustard family. It’s known to be packed with vitamins and minerals that may aid in easing inflammation and fighting diseases because of the antioxidants. The jarred horseradish sauces you see in the stores have a high sodium content (along with many preservatives and added ingredients), which is another great reason to make it from scratch.

Because of the potent flavor, you don’t need a ton because a small amount goes a long way and can jazz up just about any dish. The secret ingredient that you won’t find in most other horsey sauce recipes is silken tofu. Many don’t know but when you blend it with other ingredients it makes an excellent spread and is really creamy.

Tips for Making and Storing

  • The silken tofu is ultra-creamy when blended so no need for vegan mayo or cheese.
  • For a tangy sauce add more lemon juice, if it’s too bitter drizzle in some maple syrup.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
