Teriyaki Cauliflower

Teriyaki cauliflower is an easy and flavorful side dish that goes great with many main course meals. Only 6 ingredients are required and these crispy cauliflower bites are ready in less than one hour!

Isn’t it funny how over the past couple of years, they have made everything from cauliflower? Pizza crusts, rice, mash, wings, steaks, and even pasta sauces. I mean, long ago, most of these products weren’t even a thing.

I’ve even seen a meme that says “ Girl, if cauliflower can be a pizza, you can be anything!”. I had to laugh.

So today we aren’t trying to turn cauliflower into anything other than a mouth watering side dish! These would be so good with grilled chicken, seasoned shrimp, or an Asian-inspired dish.

Plus, when you add a little sauce to roasted cauliflower, enjoy your pickiest eaters will love it, or at least be more willing to try it! One of my other favorites is my buffalo cauliflower recipe

If you want to keep your dinner plant based (with tons of protein) you can serve teriyaki cauliflower bites over rice, with tofu, or with a quinoa salad.

Ingredients Needed

  • cauliflower florets – the lazy method is using the pre-cut florets from the produce department
  • eggs
  • kosher salt
  • black pepper
  • panko bread crumbs
  • Teriyaki sauce – I am using store-bought but you could also make it from scratch.
  • Optional garnish: sesame seeds, sliced scallions

How to Make Teriyaki Cauliflower

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Whisk together the eggs, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. In another bowl, combine the panko and remaining salt and pepper.

Toss a few cauliflower florets in the egg mixture, then cover in the panko.

Place them on the baking sheet and repeat until the whole batch is breaded.

Bake for 30 minutes and flip halfway through.

Pour the teriyaki sauce into a small bowl and baste the cauliflower.

Place the coated cauliflower back in the oven for 5 minutes, then garnish with scallions and sesame seeds.

Air Fryer Teriyaki Cauliflower Bites

Follow the same instructions except to make them in batches since the air fryer is smaller. Air fry for 15 to 20 minutes at 400 degrees.

Depending on your model, you may need more or less cooking time. Then place the cauliflower back in once they are coated in teriyaki sauce for a couple more minutes.

If you are putting parchment paper liners in the air fryer, don’t use these until the appliance has fully preheated. They can fly around in the meantime and you do not want to start a fire.

Tips for Making

  • Don’t sauce the cauliflower until you are ready to put them in the oven and serve. You want the cauliflower bites to be nice and crispy.
  • While this dish is best served immediately, you can reheat leftovers in the oven or air fryer. If you choose to microwave, they will not be as crispy.
