Instant Pot Lobster
Looking to make lobster tails the easy way in the comfort of your own home? Making Instant Pot Lobster is super easy and they come out tender and juicy every time!
I am super excited to share with you these Instant Pot Lobster tails! You may be worried that with pressure cooking they will end up overcooked – never! They actually come out tender and juicy every time!
Most of the time you will find that Instant Pot recipes usually require high pressure, but in this scenario, we are going to use lower pressure instead. If you are unfamiliar, there are a couple of buttons right above the digital screen that allows you to change the pressure to low, normal, or high, this is the area where you will make the adjustment.
Just a side note, while I am using an Instant Pot, you can use this recipe with any electric pressure cooker.
Are Lobster Tails Healthy?
When lobster comes to mind, most people think about a fancy meal, indulging in something they don’t eat that often, or even a special occasion. This seems to check all of the boxes of things we normally don’t associate with being healthy.
Good news, lobster tails provide almost the same amount of protein as a steak does (over 20g in fact!), is high in magnesium and phosphorus, low in calories and saturated fats, and can be used in many different dishes!

What You Need to Make Instant Pot Lobster
Fresh lobster tails
Water
Melted Butter or lemon – these ingredients are totally optional and are used when serving
How to Cook Lobster Tails in the Instant Pot
Start by pouring the water into the inner pot and place the metal rack (trivet) inside.
Use a set of kitchen shears to cut open the top of the lobster shells lengthwise. If you don’t have kitchen shears you can pry the shells open.
Then pull the meat up and out of the shell.
Place the lobster tails on top of the trivet (steam rack) and put the lid on. Turn the valve to the sealing position and cook on low pressure for 3 minutes.
When the timer goes off, turn the valve to release the pressure.
Serve with melted butter and lemon!
Can You Use Frozen Lobster?
Frozen lobster tails are a budget-friendly option and can be purchased year-round. However, fresh has a better flavor.
If you do want to use frozen lobster tails, put them in the refrigerator and let them thaw overnight.
Try not to rush the thawing. The next best option is thawing in cold water, defrosting in the microwave is not recommended.
