Edible Brownie Batter

Abbie

Edible brownie batter is a great snack when your sweet tooth strikes! It’s also vegan friendly and makes an outstanding fruit dip.

How many times growing up did you want to lick the brownie bowl but was always turned down? More times than I can count!

Since my brownie batter is eggless it’s totally safe to eat as soon as you whip it up! It’s also fairly healthy with the ingredients we are using, and full of fiber!

It’s also worth mentioning that since this recipe is also flourless,  there’s no need to heat treat anything. Some recipes call for that extra step, but I wanted to keep it simple.

Ingredients Needed

  • Oats – old-fashioned rolled oats works best for this recipe.
  • Salt
  • black beans
  • peanut butter – if desired, you could also swap it for creamy almond butter.
  • maple syrup – using maple syrup keeps this recipe vegan friendly, but honey can also be used in its place.
  • vanilla
  • unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Milk – any milk variety will work
  • chocolate chips

How to Make Edible Brownie Batter

Add the rolled oats and flour to the food processor and pulse until smooth. Transfer to a bowl and set aside.

Pour in the black beans and puree, then add the flour mixture back to the food processor.

Add the peanut butter, vanilla, maple syrup, cocoa powder, and milk. Process until smooth.

Transfer to a serving bowl and fold in the chocolate chips.

Chill for at least 15 minutes in the refrigerator before serving.

Storing Instructions

Keep the batter in an airtight container for up to 7 days in the refrigerator.

To freeze, mold the batter into a ball and wrap in a couple of layers of plastic wrap. Then place it in a freezer bag where it will stay fresh for up to 2 months.

If you know you aren’t going to use the entire batch at one time, I recommend storing in smaller servings.

Thaw brownie batter in the fridge for a couple of hours or overnight. You can bring it to room temperature by letting it sit on the counter.
