Strawberry Mint Mojito

Abbie

Enjoy a fresh strawberry mint mojito as the weather starts to warm up! These are great for brunches and summer parties. Easy to make and very refreshing!

If you have been around here for long at all, you know I love a good cocktail. While cooler weather calls for more whisky and bourbons, the spring and summer means it’s time to refresh!

While strawberries are in season, it’s the perfect time to toss them in a drink! If you are having guests over, you can easily triple this recipe and put it in a pitcher instead of making individual drinks.

Can You Use Other Berries?

Of course! Instead of using strawberries, you can replace them with blackberries, blueberries, or raspberries.

When you are entertaining you can also make a mojito bar. This is where you set out all of the ingredients and guests can whip up their own drinks, similar to a mimosa bar.

Ingredients Needed:

  • strawberries
  • lime wedges
  • fresh mint leaves
  • simple syrup
  • light rum
  • Soda water or seltzer
  • Garnish: fresh mint sprig, lime wheel, strawberry

How to Make Homemade Strawberry Mint Mojitos

Muddle the strawberries, lime, mint, and syrup into a high ball glass or Collins glass.

Add ice cubes and stir in the rum. Fill the rest of the glass with soda water.

Garnish with a strawberry, mint spring, or lime.

Strawberry Mojito Mocktail

If you need a non-alcoholic version, simply leave out the rum and follow the recipe as directed. This is great for those who still want to partake but aren’t really drinkers or for the kids who want to feel fancy.

How to Make Homemade Simple Syrup

You can definitely use store-bought simple syrup, but have you looked at the prices of the good ones?!

To make your own simply add equal parts of water and granulated to a saucepan and heat until the sugar has dissolved.

Allow it to cool completely before adding it to your mixed drinks.

If you have leftovers, store the syrup in a mason jar in the refrigerator where it will last up to 1 month.

What Does it Mean to Muddle the Mojito Ingredients?

Muddling means gently mashing the ingredients up to release their flavors and juices. This does not mean pureeing or mashing them into pieces.

Don’t have a cocktail muddler? You can use a wooden spoon instead.
