Chili Lime Seasoning

Abbie

My Chili Lime Seasoning is perfect for poultry, vegetables, and even fish! The flavor is out of this world – especially compared to store bought seasoning!

So maybe you forgot to buy a store-bought seasoning, or you are looking to be healthier and make your rubs from scratch. Either way I am so glad you are here! I know grabbing a seasoning packet from the store may be the most convenient, but I have noticed that when I make seasoning from scratch the flavor is so much more powerful, and let’s not forget healthier.

One reason I prefer making my own spices, seasonings, and rubs when possible is because of the added preservatives, artificial additives, and other terrible ingredients that you will find on the back of those labels.

I mean come on; a recipe this simple shouldn’t have words you cannot pronounce! Depending on what’s actually listed, there are additives that are known endocrine disruptors, which can wreak havoc on our insides without us even knowing it.

This simple seasoning recipe is totally worth the flavor and hits the spot when you are craving an easy Mexican inspired recipe!

I also recommend you try this seasoning on some air fryer chicken wings, they are out of this world!

How to Keep Homemade Spices Fresh

Honestly you can use any airtight container to keep homemade spices fresh. With all of the lid locking technology, there are tons to choose from. In my opinion, I recommend a small glass container, just for the sake of using less plastic! Silicone stasher bags are also a good option.

How to Prepare Dishes with Chili Lime Seasoning

For chicken and vegetables: add a little oil then cover with the seasoning. Let it marinate for about 20-30 minutes for the full flavor. Juice a lime over the finished dish if desired.

For Fish and Shrimp: Skip the oil and cover with the seasoning.

The options for using chili lime seasoning are endless! You can make tacos, salads, and more using this same simple recipe over and over again.

Is This Chili Lime Seasoning Spicy?

Not really. There’s just enough heat to flavor whatever it is you are adding the seasoning to. The mild heat comes from the chili powder, for spicier options keep reading!

How To Make a Spicer Version

If you want to kick things up a notch, that’s easy to do! You can use any of your favorite (dried) peppers. Simply add them to a food processor and process until a powder forms. Add a little at a time so that it doesn’t overpower the lime flavor.

If you don’t want to bother with a food processor, you can add red pepper flakes or ground cayenne pepper.

I can’t leave without talking about my favorite homemade chicken taco seasoning! Again, it has all of the benefits making recipes from scratch and it’s filled with flavor!
