Before I talk about how much I love mushrooms in the air fryer and how easy they are to make, let’s talk about nutrition.
How Are Mushrooms Healthy
Depending on the variety, mushrooms are filled with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants! There have also been studies focused on mushrooms being a brain super food, and because of the antioxidants having an effect on free radicals, it’s possible they can aid in preventing cancer.
Mushrooms also contain fiber, small amounts of vitamin D, and B-vitamins.

What You Need to Make Air Fryer Mushrooms
Portobello mushrooms – you’ll want to slice these about ½ inch thick so they don’t shrivel up. You can also use another variety if you would like such as cremini or shiitake.
Oil – we are using extra virgin olive oil
Salt – feel free to use kosher or coarse sea salt
How to Make Fried Mushrooms in the Air Fryer
While the air fryer is preheating to 400 degrees, add the cleaned mushrooms to a small bowl with the salt and oil, then toss.
Once they are fully coated, add them to your air fryer basket.
Cook for 10 to 12 minutes or longer if you want them crispier. Shake halfway through if needed.
Tips for Making, Storing, and Reheating
- While this recipe makes two servings, feel free to double or triple and just air fry in batches.
- If you are making a double batch, just try to keep the mushrooms in a single layer so they cook evenly and you don’t have to increase the time.
- Try to slice the mushrooms to the same size so they cook evenly.
- Don’t forget to wash the ‘shrooms before you start.
- Use air fryer parchment paper liners for easy cleanup!
- Air fryer mushrooms are best served immediately after cooking, but you can store in the fridge for a couple of days and reheat again. To reheat, air fry at 350 degrees until they are warmed all the way through.
